Hinsdale

The Village of Hinsdale is widely regarded as the crown jewel of the western suburbs.  Its combination of a quaint but vibrant downtown and luxury custom homes provides a beautiful setting to raise a family.  Most of Hinsdale is located in DuPage county, but a small portion east of County Line road is in Cook county.  Hinsdale’s commercial districts include the Ogden avenue corridor from IL-83 to I-294 with, among other things, a Whole Foods, Ferrari dealership, and a foreign language school for toddlers, as well as the pedestrian friendly downtown Hinsdale shopping area.

Over the last two decades, much of Hinsdale has seen extensive redevelopment of custom homes; however there are still plenty of beautiful older homes that have retained their value among their newer neighbors.

Many people hold Hinsdale in high esteem for its mature trees and manicured landscapes. The Village has many beautiful parks with towering trees, fabulous playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball diamonds and soccer fields.  Hinsdale was initially settled as a summer vacation spot for wealthy Chicagoans who desired summertime retreats in country.  Some of the historic homes remain, situated on larger estate lots.

An express train to Chicago is only 25 minutes from the downtown Hinsdale Metra station.  Quickly accessible from I-290, I-88, I-55 and I-294, Hinsdale offers fast and convenient pathways to the Chicago Loop, the better part of suburban Chicago, and both Midway (25 min) and O’Hare (20 min) airports.

All residences in Hinsdale, except small sections of town, lie within the boundaries of the very highly regarded Elementary School District 181.   Additionally, Hinsdale homes all feed into the perennially ranked Hinsdale Central High School District 86.  Living within these two districts is great not only while your kids are in school, but also for resale value, as there is never a shortage of families wanting to locate within high ranking school districts.
